Hua Mak Sports Complex and Swimming Pool

Posted by Stuart at 11:10 PM on September 25, 2002

huamark.jpgAs I mentioned before, I have been swimming a little bit at National Stadium in Bangkok. But now I have a new favorite place to swim: Hua Mak Sports Complex. It is a much better facility, clean, less crowded, cheaper, but it is a LOT farther away. It takes me about an hour to get there by bus. But I think it is totally worth it.

Hua Mak is very impressive in that there are thousands of people exercising there every night. I enjoy just walking around watching people play all kinds of sports. Tonight I had my camera with me, and took a few shots. Check them out in the photo section by clicking on the pic.

less crowded, yet thousands of people. I can't imagine!! In an aerobic class of 500, I guess I wouldn't have to worry about being embarrassed if I messed up.

It looks like a real neat complex. Glad you have found a good place to swim!!!

And I complain about driving 15 minutes to go swim. :-)

Love you!

Where is Hua Mak located? Is it in Bangkok proper or outside the city?

Hua Mak is in outskirts of Bangkok. It's in Bangkapi, off of Ramkamheang Road. Unfortunately if you don't have a car, it's a little bit difficult to get there. But basically, by bus you could go to Phra Kanong BTS station, and then take a bus north about 5 km or so to Ramkamhaeng Road. The stadium and swimming pool are is between the campuses of ABAC and Ramkamheang Universities.

Hi there
I have recently moved to Bangkok and I'm looking for a swimming pool close to Ekkamai.
I had found a site similar to yours where the guy talked about various swimming pools and that he had found a neat 25 metre pool in Phrakanong.
Anyway, I have tried a million different combinations but I just can't find the site again.
I was wondering if it was your site and you've changed it.
Cheers
Martin

Hello Martin. Yes, I have talked about a pool near Phra Khanong on my site before. It is at the Bangkok Sports Club which is located on Sukumvit Soi 71 (Phriti Banomyong) Soi 42.

The pool is about 2-3 KM from the Phra Khnaong BTS station, so it's not really walking distance. I'll email you a map so that you can see where it is. (Sorry, I can not attach a picture here in the comments!)

There is also a public pool near the Ekkamai BTS station -- across from Major Ekkamai and behind the UNESCO Bangkok offices. I have never swam there myself, but it looks like a good option.
