Siam Paragon Construction
Posted by Stuart at 10:24 AM on September 01, 2005I hate standing around doing nothing, especially if I am waiting for a bus or a train. I'd much rather walk than sit and wait.
But when I'm taking the skytrain, I can't walk once I'm inside the station. So at least at Siam Station for the last year or so, I have had a nice diversion to look at while I wait -- the building of the new Siam Paragon shopping center.
First, we got to watch the dismantling of the old Siam Intercontinental Hotel. It seemed like a nice place at one time, but I guess times change. And I have to say that what is replacing it looks like it will be quite fancy as well. (Although I think the outside looks ugly, other than the all-glass atrium entryway.) Not that this strip needs another mall, but we will see what it is like after it's finished and open early next year.
In any case, for fun every now and then I have taken a picture of the construction site from the Skytrain platform. Here are two of those pictures; a little before and after look at the new Siam Paragon, about 9 months apart.

i want to go siam ocean world
Yeah, I want to see the Siam Ocean World too. I missed it on my visit yesterday, but I am sure that I will check it out soon. Check out my thoughts on what I saw in the Grand Opening...
Saw the web site, Siam Paragon, it takes too long to load each page even from a high IT computer at the office.
Also read some of the comments you've posted on your web site. It's a huge load of journals!!!! It'll take someone a good week to read the whole thing through. However, I came across the fact the you're from the states and am glad you like Thailand. I went to SF during Thanksgiving weekend and was lucky to visit De Young Museum at the Golden Gate Park. Go see it when you have a chance. It's stunning!
Anyway, did you read about the little girl fell into the gap between the garden and elevator? That's insane. How could a 3-meter gap be in the area and left open without design safety? I hope the girl is goingto recover soon.
Cheers,
Lekameister.
I miss Thailand.... (from some Thai boy in Canada)
