Grass Hut in Angkor Wat
August 17, 2002
As we waited for the rain to stop, we were watched by kids on the front porch of a grass hut. The road we were driving down is the northern route to Thailand, and was controlled by the Khmer Rouge as few as three years ago. This meant that it was unsafe even for the Cambodian people to travel on it, let alone white tourists from the U.S. Luckily, the kids in this picture have no memory of those horrible days.
