Lintel in Buriram

A closeup of a very famous lintel at Panom Rung in Buriram, Thailand showing the Hindu creation story. Unfortunately, theft is a big problem at these old temples in SE Asia. A few decades ago, this lintel was stolen (some say it was lifted out by helicopter) and ended up in a museum in Chicago. The Thai goverment had to work for many years to have it returned to its rightful place. The same creation story shown here was also seen in the River of 1000 Linguas near Angkor Wat, Cambodia.
