Scarab! in Chiang Rai

The mascot of Isara's university in Chiang Rai, Thailand is the scarab. They have a few much-more-than-life-size models in front of the school. Some Thai people like to keep the scarabs as pets. They get a small stick, nail a thin rope to it, and then tie the scarab's horn to the stick like a leash. To get more scarabs, they take the leashed one to the countryside and let them sit there and attract mates.
