Site Back Up On New Host

Posted by Stuart at 10:22 AM on March 12, 2006

It only took three days, but my website is back up and running on a new host. There were many little steps along the way, but it actually went fairly smoothly. I am sure that there are still a few small things that I need to fix, but in general, it's working well. (Knock on wood.)

For example, I've changed the underlying site structure, so now I need to change all of the internal links so that they point to the right place. This also means that all of the links I get from Google will probably go to the wrong place. Oh well.

I also need to upload the photo album. That's the next task.

Not much going on other than that. We spent another afternoon at Home Pro yesterday finalizing the plans for the guest bathroom. I think it's going to look great. Hopefully they will start work sometime next week.

Hi,

First of all I must say thanks to you for this wonderful blog. My first ever Asia trip will be in August of this year (2006), so while looking for info on Laos I came across your ramblings and got hooked.

Secondly, I've been sort of reading it like a novel, a little bit every day, and now all of a sudden you've gone and changed your address and I'm all confused...I was up to November 2005. Where do I go from here?

Honestly, your stories are great and I feel so much more prepared for my adventure since I've been reading you.

please give us a link,

tks,

Emily

Hello Emily and thanks for your comments.

Were you reading my site by clicking on the months in the left-hand menu? Interesting. I guessed that no one was using those links so I moved them. You can find them on the archives page:

Hopefully the changes I made yesterday improved the site... but thanks for letting me know that you were confused! :)

- Stuart
