"Final" Bathroom Renovation Photos
Posted by Stuart at 11:12 AM on June 13, 2006My friend Nick sent me an email last week reminding me that I never posted pictures of my new bathroom that I renovated a few months ago. Well, as I explained to him, I didn't post pictures of my finished bathroom because it was never finished!
One of the best parts of the new bathroom, in my opinion, was going to be the all-glass shower box. It was definitely the most expensive part of the new look. But two months after paying for everything, the shower box had not even been started. So I asked for my money back from Home Pro.
Home Pro told me that I could have a store credit. But I politely explained to them (actually, Piyawat did it for me, in Thai) that we had such a bad experience using their services that I would never buy anything in their store again and that I wanted my money back.
So, after working our way up through a few levels of management, I was finally refunded the money for the shower box. Hopefully I'll be able to complete the work someday, but for now, the bathroom doesn't look all that bad without it. What do you think? An improvement over the last one?
It looks great! More like a thai bathroom than a generic american apartment bathroom from the 70's!
Wow what a change. I remember April and I using it while visiting you. It is 200% improved!
Very well done!!
Very cool - it looks A+ classy and the lighting is AWESOME. Nice work, Stuart.
Sexy!
It definitely looks a lot better and if you ever need that shower box finishing, give us a call! :) From what I know, Home Pro uses sub-contractors which also explains the lack of control over their "staff" and thus, quality. It is also a very common thing in Thailand for contractors to leave work unfinished and simply disappear because 1)they ran out of money 2)they simply have no idea how to do the job. 3)family problems. That's why we set out to do what we do, and hopefully set a new standard in home improvement services here. Help us spread the word.
Stuart,
Well here we are about a year beyond the June 2006 posting about the bathroom renovation. Did you install a shower box, or decide to "go Thai" and function without one?
-Steele
Hi Steele... we are still shower-box-less. But it's on the list of things to do. I still think it would look a little better with the glass container. And the floor would definitely not be as wet.
These are the slowest renovations ever, huh? It's hard to believe I have been living in the condo and slowly making changes here and there for over two years now.
Ha.... Well, let's simply consider this salutary neglect. When the entire room is tiled and there is a large central drain...well, so long as there is spot to position your towel and it will remain dry, the shower stall isn't a huge loss.
I am visiting friends later this year in Chiang Mai. Tell me....does it seem atypically hot thus far in Bangkok this year? I just checked the Chiang Mai temperature and it is forecast to exceed 100 F. the next five days. That seems to be above average to me.
adios,
Steele
Steele: Yes, it has been outrageously hot so far. Luckily, it has been rainy in BKK the last few days, and therefore MUCH cooler. Whew. :)
Yes, indeed, they both look much better.
