The big news here in Thailand (especially among foreigners like me) is the recent bombing of the nightclub in mostly Hindu (not Muslim) Bali. Ever since I started travelling to Asia last November, I have always said that I would not be going to Indonesia anytime soon. When I say this, people always reply, "But Bali is safe." I am guessing that they have changed their minds now.
In other news, I resumed my attempts to get a non-immigrant visa today, but was told that I do indeed have to leave the country to get it. So tomorrow AM Rupert and I are heading to Vientiene, Laos. He is starting his Grand Asian Tour (Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia) and I will be joining him at least through Laos before my teaching job starts on October 24.
