A 10 foot wall of water racing over the beach is not a very pleasant Christmas present.
Having visted Phuket and Phi Phi a few times, I can only imagine the horror that the residents and tourists are going through now.

Many, many people (friends and family who know you live in Thailand) have been very concerned about your safety. They all breathe a sigh of relief when I tell them that you are in North Carolina, and that the effects of the devestation did not reach Bangkok.
