Limoncello: Italian on Sukumvit 11

After my not-too-pleasant experience with Mexican food at Coyote on Convent, last night I tried a new (for me) Italian place on Sukumvit Soi 11, called Limoncello, with three friends of mine. And I am happy to report that it was much, much better.

The location is decent, located about half-way down Sukmvit Soi 11, before reaching Bed Supper Club. (Nana BTS station) The food was pretty good as well. We shared Capresse salad and spinach/cheese/ham for appitizers. The main course was two pizzas and some spaghetti carbonara. For desert we split a lemon pie.

The pizzas are big and tasty, but very thin and easy to eat. The carbonara on the other hand, was very thick and heavy. Delicious! The service was excellent as well. Our wine glasses never completely emptied. (Until the bottle was finished, that is.)

In fact, I don't have a single complaint about this place. It was expensive (2,500 baht, US$60 for four people, not including wine) but it was worth it. This is one place that I can certainly recommend.

$60 for four people for italian food in Chicago would be considered cheap.

It would be closer to $90 plus taxes and if wine was involved it would be a lot more.

Ah, limoncello. Reminds me of the free limoncello shots given out by the attractive Italian ladies at the duty free stores at the Rome airport. It's a good way to kick start a Monday going to work. $15/person in D.C. will get you a decent lunch or perhaps dinner at a fast food joint. - E

Charles, it's all relative I suppose. When I say "expensive", I mean by Bangkok standards. And $15 is definitely expensive when most good meals can be had for under $5, even at nice restaurants. I definitely wouldn't complain about a $15 Italian dinner in the US. But I must say that the $15 per person at Limoncello made me much happier than the $20 I spent at Coyote.

Eric, I didn't even know what Limoncello was, until you mentioned it. So after a Google search I now know that Limoncello is actually a lemon liqueur. Cool! I wonder if they serve Limoncello at Limoncello. I will have to try to find out next time...

I read your review of Coyote and then this review and I have to agree with both, though I would be less generous with Coyote (see my comment there).
Limoncello is great and I frequently go there just to get a carry out pizza! The wine is also very drinkable (a plus in thailand). I also can't think of a bad thing to say about Limoncello.

My family and I have been to that restaurant for brazilian times and we love the food there very much.It turns out that Limoncello is one of our favorite restaurants now.
