Voting For President From Thailand

I interrupt the on-going recollections of my trip to Laos with a Public Service Announcement for US citizens around the world: GO VOTE!

This week I mailed in my absentee ballot for President and Congress for my adopted home state of Colorado. It was a surprisingly easy process, thanks to the Internet. First, a few weeks ago I went to the Rock the Vote website, filled out an online form, and printed out and mailed the voter registration forms for Colorado.

Then, last week I went to the Overseas Vote Foundation website, filled out another online form, and printed out the ballot. Now here is where the cool part comes in: this year, Fed Ex gave free shipping for all absentee ballots from anywhere in the world. All I had to do is print out the Fed Ex paperwork and drop everything off at an office in Bangkok.

So kudos to Fed Ex for sponsoring such a worthy cause. And a big thanks to those behind the websites above to help me make my voice heard from the other side of the planet!

Good for you, Stuart Grant!!!

Love, Sharum

FedEx definitely gets points for being a good corporate citizen. Considering that the number of ballots they'll fly back is just a fraction of a percent of the total lift they move to the US, what they've earned in publicity is tremenously valuable.
